A man accused of killing an Arkansas beauty queen in 2005 has begged not guilty to a capital slay accuse.

On Monday Gary William Dunn appeared in Pope County Circuit Court. The 29-year-old is accused of bludgeoning Nona Dirksmeyer with a floor lamp and slitting her throat in her off-campus apartment building at Arkansas Tech University. The 19-year-old female was the reigning Miss Petit Jean Valley.

Beauty queen boyfriend Dirksmeyer's, Kevin N. Jones, was acquitted of the killing in a 2007 trial. A particular prosecutor started a new study into Dirksmeyer's death following police said DNA found on a condom wrapper matched Dunn. Dunn is being held instead of $1 million bond. His trial is planned to start on April 13.
