Beauty pageants are a world of their own – full of rhinestones, sashes and full-length gowns. And one local woman is proving seniors be supposed to have some of that glitz and glamour.

The following month, Judie Ohm of Mondovi will make an extensive drive to Atlantic City, New Jersey – to compete for a title of 2008 Ms. Senior America. It’s a pageant organizers state celebrates the “age of elegance”. She said "They sent me my crown and banner and said this, go for it Judie”. Judie – who just developed a love of flying – will compete against 49 other contestants. She’ll be judged on many things – together with her evening gown and her talent and she said "I am going to be doing, showing how to make up stained glass stepping stones”.

And at the same time as the grandmother of five won’t make known her exact age, the Ms. Senior America pageant is simply open to women 60 and older. Judie says she’s proud to signify all of Wisconsin’s senior beauties. "They have therefore much inside of them, the inner beauty and so a lot to offer."

The 2008 Ms. Senior America beauty pageant will be held October 19-25. The present titleholder is from Minnesota.
