Vodacom Miss Tanzania 2008 Nasreen Karim left yesterday for Johannesburg, South Africa to participate in the Miss World contest slated for December 13 in Santon City. This is where she will be for the coming one month until she participates in Miss World Beauty Pageant, where she will challenge for the striking crown alongside over 100 girls from across the world Director of the Miss Tanzania Organising Committee Hashim Lundenga confirmed Nasreen’s departure, saying "Tanzania is behind her".
“She left in the early hours this morning (yesterday morning) aboard Air Tanzania flight and she arrived in Johannesburg securely ready for the busy stint ahead of the concluding day. We have done our best to get ready Nasreen and it is our trust that she would achieve well in the contest,” Lundenga said. The Tanzanian beauty queen was on Friday presented with the national flag by the Minister for Home Affairs, Lawrence Masha, who called on Nasreen to try to be like the 2005 representative, Nancy Sumari, by performing wonders in the world prominent happening.
Nancy won the Miss World Africa and finished along with the top six in the world happening in Sanya China. Masha called on Tanzanians of all walks of life to hold up Nasreen in her bid to carry out wonders in the happening, saying that her victory would help promote the country widely.
Managerial Director of Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) who is as well the patron of the Miss Tanzania Organizing Committee, Emmanuel Ole Naiko, said Nasreen will go away places in the competition and in the process help draw attention of investors and tourists in the country.
The TIC boss handed over CDs and brochures containing information regarding the country’s sightseeing attractions and investment opportunities, which Nasreen would present at different fronts while in the event to magnetize the notice of investors and tourists. Nasreen has forever remained confident of performing fine in the Miss World contest and asked Tanzanians to pray for her.
