How To Choose The Right Perfume For The Right Occasion

Perfumes are liked by all for its pleasant smell that gives a person a feeling of freshness. It helps to make a fashion statement and is now considered a part of general grooming. There is a large variety to choose from in the market and we can choose according to our own particular likes and our own needs. Some perfumes are strong smelling while others are mild. This of course depends on the taste of the individual. Each company has its own particular brand of perfume. Each perfume is different according to the scent that it produces. Keeping all this is mind one should choose carefully the perfume most suited for the person.

As each perfume is suited to a particular person, so also a particular perfume might suit a certain occasion. Care should be taken to judge what suits the occasion. Some perfumes are floral while others are fruity. Still others have a wild aromatic woody smell. This should suit the mood of the person wearing it. Some perfumes are suited to the time of the day. Some of the floral scents like moonflower and jasmine are light perfumes, suited for day wear. Others which are stronger are good for a party. Some of the perfumes are very good for the night time. Depending on the time of the day and the mood of the individual, the perfume can be carefully chosen. Obviously, the same perfume which is used for the office will not suit a party.

Besides perfumes, there is also eau de cologne. The eau de cologne is much milder and is generally a light scent. The different kinds of perfumes are much stronger and last a longer time than the cologne. The cologne is more of a toiletry and is also used by men. Perfumes are longer lasting than colognes which are also lighter and only give a feeling of freshness.

Men also use perfume, but there preferences are different to that of women. They generally like using cologne and perfume smelling of the woods or the musk. Some of the scents liked by them are sage, rosemary, clove and thyme. The citrus smells with the smell of the woods is liked by men for summer and day time. It keeps them feeling fresh. For the evening wear, the perfume preferred is slightly stronger than the one they use during the daytime. The smell of vanilla and spices is good for the evenings. The smell of tobacco, sandalwood and cedar are preferred for the evenings.

Some of the famous perfumes for women are Chanel #5 by Chanel, Red by Giogio Beverly Hills and White Line by Estee Lauder, Je Reviens by Worth, Shalimar by Guerlain and Joy by Jean Patou. Chanel perfumes are good for all times. Shalimar and Joy are most suited for the evening or the party, since the fragrance is too strong. Je Reveins is generally used in the daytime for it gives an airy feel. Poison by Dior is very strong and is good for the evenings. Hypnotic Poison by Dior is a much lighter perfume which can be used during the day. Creed by Imperial Millesime of Paris is a fine perfume that can be worn during the day and is also suited for the evenings.

All the perfumes contain natural oils and a little amount of synthetic substances. The base for the perfume is alcohol. Based on the ratio of the scented oils and the mixture of alcohol, we get the perfume that is used. So, a person interested in buying a particular perfume should be able to determine what type of smell he/she wants and for what occasion it is going to be used.

All perfumes should be tested on the body by testing them on the pulse points to ensure that the smell is liked by the user. One should wait for ten minutes before smelling it and then deciding on buying it. It is best to go to a store, where you can consult the counter person and test the perfume. You can also shop online or look at various catalogs to get an idea about the best perfume to buy for each occasion that a person wants.
